Salisbury, MD — Visiting Angels announced its 2026 schedule of caregiver training classes and community education events designed to support family caregivers, health care professionals and community members caring for older adults.
These interactive sessions provide practical tools, firsthand experience and expert guidance to help individuals deliver safer, more effective care while building confidence in their caregiving role.
“These classes are designed to empower caregivers with real-world skills and understanding,” said Journey Smith-Wilson, director of business development for Visiting Angels of the Eastern Shore. “Our goal is to help people maintain their independence and remain safely in their own homes. Whether you are caring for a loved one or working in the field, education makes all the difference in providing safe, compassionate care.”
The 2026 lineup includes:
Alzheimer’s simulation classes
An immersive, hands-on sensory experience designed to help participants better understand aging and several types of dementia.
- Feb. 26, noon–1:30 p.m.
- May 14, 5:30–7 p.m.
- Aug. 22, 10:30 a.m.–noon
- Nov. 11, 1–2:30 p.m.
Equipment and body mechanics training
Learn six essential body mechanics principles for safe transfers and lifting, with direct training using equipment such as Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs, and walkers.
- March 19, 1:30–3 p.m.
- Sept. 12, 9–10:30 a.m.
Nutrition, hydration, and food safety
Covers key nutritional needs for older adults, digestive health considerations, and food safety tips. Includes recipes and taste testing.
- April 22, 5–7 p.m.
Seasonal safety classes
Focused sessions addressing common seasonal risks:
- Summer safety and dehydration — June 1, 10:30–11:30 a.m.
- Winter safety and fall prevention — Dec. 3, 10:30–11:30 a.m.
