We Are Limitless Studios has completed “Cultivating Community,” a large-scale exterior mural created at Amity Coffee Roasters & Cafe through the 2026 WALS Annual Mural Giveaway.

Amity was selected for the giveaway because of its commitment to creating a welcoming gathering place in Greenwood. Located inside the town’s historic fire hall, the locally owned coffee shop has
become a space where residents and visitors meet, work and connect.

The mural brings Amity’s tagline, “Cultivating Community,” to life through a growing coffee plant surrounded by green leaves, white flowers, bright coffee cherries and scattered coffee beans. The
imagery connects the process of growing coffee with the time and care required to cultivate meaningful relationships.

During the first two days of installation, more than 75 children and adults helped paint the mural alongside WALS. Participants included Amity owners Melody and Elmer Slaubaugh and their children, local business and property owners, WALS supporters from across the region and members of the public who happened to be traveling through Greenwood.

“The most powerful part of this project was watching so many different people contribute to something that will remain in their community for years,” said Brandon Bell, co-founder and creative
director of We Are Limitless Studios. “The community did not simply receive a finished mural. They became part of creating it.”

The WALS painting team included Brandon Bell, Leandra Peterson, Rebecca Taylor, Miriam Moran and Nadine Brittingham, with support from WALS intern Samantha Minner. Following the public painting experience, the artists completed the refinement, finishing work and final details needed to bring the full composition together.

What was once an empty exterior wall now greets people traveling through Greenwood with a highly visible message about connection, participation and community pride.

The WALS Annual Mural Giveaway was created to help a deserving business or organization transform an overlooked wall while demonstrating how public art can bring people together.

Applications for the next giveaway are expected to open in December 2026
