Salisbury, MD – It takes over 100 truckloads of dirt, heavy machinery and a lot of teamwork to prepare the Wicomico Civic Center for the annual Lone Star Rodeo and No Limits Monster Trucks events.
Affectionately dubbed “dirt shows” by Civic Center staff, bringing the rodeo and monster trucks shows to Salisbury each January has been tradition for over 25 years.
“These events are staples in our winter entertainment schedule,” said Chelsey Jones, manager of the Wicomico Civic Center. “Families look forward to the rodeo and monster trucks each year, and we are thrilled to welcome them back.”
The Lone Star Rodeo takes place on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20.
Rodeo events include bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding. Kids ages 10 & under are encouraged to come early and participate in the best dressed cowboy/cowgirl contest and the gold rush. Kid’s events kick off at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The following weekend, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 and 27, No Limits Monster Trucks & Thrill Show takes over the arena with wheelie contests, two wheel contests and a freestyle event. For an additional fee, attendees can ride in a real monster truck through the arena. Those interested in racing their own vehicles can pre-register for Tuff Truck races (for licensed drivers ages 18+) and kid’s Power Wheels races (ages 3-9). Call 940-683-4742 for more information.
Tickets for both events can be purchased online at www.WicomicoCivicCenter.org, by phone at 410-548-4911 on in person at the box office.
