The winners from Wicomico Public Libraries’ Celestial Art Show were revealed at a reception held on February 2, 2018, at the Downtown Library. Artists of all ages submitted original 2D mixed media pieces or photographs on the Moon, Stars, and Planets theme. The Art Show judges Sean Stearns, Wicomico Public Libraries; Veronique Diriker, UMES and Nick Troup, Salisbury University reviewed all submissions and were able to award a maximum of 40 points. Awards were given to the two submissions in each category with the two highest totals. The categories included photography, K-6th Grade, 7th-12th grade and Adult (18+).

1st Place – Erica Tyler, The Life Saving Galaxy
2nd Place – Tasha Mason, Totality
Adult:
1st Place – Pat Collins, Eastern Shore Harvest Moon
2nd Place – Robert Heron, Planets
7th – 12th Grade:
1st Place – Bri West, The Beauty of Space
2nd Place – Meredith Brewington, Within Reach
K – 6th Grade:
1st Place – Vada Fegley, Our Solar System
2nd Place – Irie Stefanik
Wicomico Public Libraries also invited three members from the local community to choose their favorite piece out of all the submissions. The local community judges included, Mayor Jake Day; Weston Young representing the Wicomico County Executive’s Office and Mitzi Perdue.
The Community Award Winners are as follows:
Mayors Choice Award – Kimaya Thibeau, Spotlight of the American Flag on the Sun
Executive Choice Award – Bri West, Beauty of Space
Mitzi Perdue Choice Award – Diane Heron, Earth from Space
