Wicomico Public Libraries Launches Summer Reading Kickoff Week

Wicomico Public Libraries is excited to announce its Summer Reading Kickoff Week 2015 will be held June 13th – June 20th and will include several events at different branches of the Library. This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Every Hero Has A Story”.

Summer Reading Week kicks off at the Centre Branch, located at Centre at Salisbury Mall. The Centre Branch will host a Summer Reading Festival on Saturday, June 13th, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Festivities include giveaways, summer reading sign ups, crafts, Sneaks the Cat, Magician Mike Rose and so much more.

The fun continues at the Downtown Library on Wednesday, June 17th, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM with a music play concert for young children performed by Jim Gill. Jim Gill is an author and musician whose recordings and books have received five separate awards from the American Library Association over the years. When Jim is asked to visit a community as a featured author he works to create a true celebration of his books and, more importantly, the joy of reading by emphasizing active participation and family play.

The week-long celebration concludes at the Pittsville Branch, Saturday, June 20th, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with KA-POW WOW, a family fun festival with food, bounce houses and special visits by NASA, a K-9 demonstration and much more! All of the above events are free and open to the public.

Wicomico Public Libraries are located in Downtown Salisbury, the Centre at Salisbury, in Pittsville, and the Library Bookmobile.
