Wicomico Public Libraries Re-open and Begin Laptop Lending Program

(Salisbury, Maryland) — Wicomico Public Libraries received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to expand the Library’s Hotspot lending program to make more Hotspots available and include laptop lending for patrons without devices. Funding from this grant will be used to purchase 60 new laptop computers, plus additional Hotspots to expand the library’s current popular Hotspot lending program.

The Library will begin purchasing computers in October for lending to the public. The Library originally received funding to pilot a Hotspot lending program through Maryland State Libraries. The popularity of and demand for this program led the Library to apply for funding to expand the program to include laptops.

Patrons will also be able to re-enter all three library branches (by appointment only) beginning in October. For everyone’s safety, the Library is offering limited services and hours to reduce contact and close interactions and to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The safety and health of our patrons and staff is our priority. For more information on how to make an appointment, or on how to borrow a laptop and/or Hotspot, please check out the FAQ’s on our website! www.wicomicolibraries.org
