Five representatives of gifted and talented education in Wicomico County Public Schools will be honored Feb. 21 at an awards celebration hosted by the Maryland Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education and the Maryland State Department of Education.
Honorees from Wicomico Schools are:
Outstanding Student Accomplishment: Alison Sahler, senior, James M. Bennett High
Outstanding Educator/Teacher as Leader: Laura Black, Grade 4 Magnet teacher, North Salisbury Elementary; Mildred Johnson, Grade 5 Magnet teacher at North Salisbury Elementary; Kristen Briggs, Thinking and Doing (TAD) Program teacher serving students at North Salisbury Elementary, Pemberton Elementary, Pittsville Elementary and Willards Elementary
Outstanding Educator/Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator: Lori Bock, Supervisor of Social Studies, who for many years served as supervisor both for Social Studies and for Gifted and Talented Education
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has proclaimed February as Gifted and Talented Month in the State of Maryland. The reception at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at North County High School in Glen Burnie will shine the spotlight on outstanding individual and school representatives of gifted and talented education in Maryland.
