Members of The Women’s Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, recently raised $4,700 in donation for The Life Crises Center. The funds were used to ease the burdens of those spending their holidays at the Life Crisis Center.

The Life Crisis Center is a local nonprofit agency that advocates for and provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Some of the comprehensive support services offered to the community include a 19 bed safe home, intensive case management, supervised visitation, counseling, legal services, victim support, abuser groups, and outreach. Services are available at no charge to women, men, and children who are victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, and child abuse. Additionally, a free hotline operates 24/7 for anyone in the community needing crisis assistance or referral information.

“The services provided by the Life Crisis Center are vital to our community. When people are experiencing personal trauma, The Life Crisis Center is there to help guide them through those dark times,” states CFES President Erica Joseph. “The members of our Women’s Fund saw the need to support this wonderful organization and jumped to action.”

“While the need for on-going funding is great for organizations like the Life Crisis Center, events like these highlight the possibilities of what a small group of like-minded community members are capable of,” says Gayle Widdowson, Chair of the Women’s Fund.
