The Wor-Wic Community College presidential search committee co-chairs, Kimberly C. Gillis and Martin T. Neat, have appointed — and the board of trustees have approved — the search and screening committee for the new president of the college. Dr. Ray Hoy, the current president of Wor-Wic, will continue to lead the college through his retirement date of Friday, June 30.
In the search for Hoy’s replacement, the board of trustees is committed to finding a successor who will continue his legacy as a leader focused on meeting the education and training needs of the citizens and businesses of the Lower Eastern Shore.
The search committee is comprised of 15 individuals representing the college’s faculty, staff and administrators; a student representative; members of the board of trustees and the foundation; community leaders; and county elected officials. Along with co-chairs Gillis, chairperson of the board of trustees, and Neat, a board member, the committee includes:
- Matthew D. Geel, business and hospitality management department head and associate professor of accounting
- Julie M. Giordano, Wicomico County Executive
- Frederick Grant, former Worcester County school administrator and principal
- Denean L. Jones-Ward, director of CEWD adult and community development
- Dr. Ryan Messatzzia, professor of human services
- Chelsea Milligan, instructor of nursing
- Anna G. Newton, board member
- Reginald Oliver, vice president of the student government association and Wor-Wic representative to the Maryland Higher Education Commission student advisory board
- Diana Purnell, Worcester County Commissioner
- Jennifer A. Sandt, vice president for administrative services
- L. William Shockley, treasurer of the foundation
- Heather Trader, development specialist
- Sonya Whited, senior director of retail product development, Perdue Farms
The committee will work with the community college executive search firm Gold Hill Associates to submit a short list of the most qualified presidential candidates for the board of trustees to consider. The board will make the final selection.
