Make sure to come out to support Lower Shore Land Trust and Amused Studios (pictures attached) on Friday August 3rd for First Friday and Saturday August 4th for Blessing of the Combines in Snow Hill, Maryland located on the river. First Friday is a great way to kick off the weekend and enjoy your evening at a fun-filled event with art and food around town!
First Friday includes artwork and ceramic pieces handcrafted by artists Sarah Halcott and Robert Halcott from Amused Studios. They started their own pottery studio and shop in 2006, making beautiful handcrafted pieces of pottery inspired from nature. Sarah makes intricate mugs with bright colors and incorporates crystals onto some which reflect feelings of being on the beach. Sarah uses an array of colors, using every color imaginable in the rainbow onto her delicate pieces, giving them their colors. Meanwhile, Robert creates mosaic glass bottles that could have been used in the ancient times. Robert also burnishes pots with a mica infusion which adds a taste of sparkle to the pots. By using low firing techniques, for example acid wash saggar, to design red mottled pieces and uses horse hair and feather raku in order to construct a more dramatic look. Sarah and Robert make breathtaking mugs, bowls, platters, piggybanks, bottles and pottery that will stir your artistic soul. Are you looking for a birthday gift? Wedding gift? Kitchen décor? LSLT will be hosting events at Blessing of the Combines; Saturday, August 4th from 10 am to 3 pm in Snow Hill. Lower Shore Land Trust will be hosting Amused Studios’ artwork, as well as having a self-guided pollinator garden tour and fun, outdoor crafts and activities for the kids! So come bring your whole family to this event! There will be kids’ nature crafts which include making your very own shell pet! Come draw, sketch and color on a shell and take it home with you! There are plenty of arts and crafts and other activities for the entire family. Stop by and create your own nature craft and bring a piece of nature home with you to cherish forever.
