February 19th, 2016 from 5-8pm is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury!  Even in the winter months, without the artisans and crafters outside on the streets, there is still tons to do and see on 3rd Fridays!  Enjoy shopping, gallery-hopping, dining or enjoy the great live entertainment scheduled all over Downtown Salisbury.

This 3rd Friday, Mayor Jake Day and the City of Salisbury will host the “Downtown Master Plan Unveiling” at the Tony Weeg Photography Studio from 5-8pm.  The City of Salisbury and the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture worked with thousands of Salisbury residents since 2013 to develop this community-driven downtown master plan. The plan will be on display for public viewing. Come see the future of Downtown Salisbury!

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will hold an opening reception for its exhibit Morgan Craig, Razing the New Deal:  An Exploration in Architecture and Identity.  Artist, Morgan Craig believes that architectural structures act as both repositories and vehicles for memory and his work forms a sociopolitical commentary on the effects of hubris, avarice, deregulated capitalism, free trade, and technological obsolescence upon communities.  Piece by Piece by Laura Petrovich – Cheney is also on display, an exhibition literally pieced together from wooden debris left behind by Hurricane Sandy.  Inspired by the geometry of American quilts, she uses recurrent block patterns to explore ideas rooted in the repetition of life and celebrates putting one’s life back together; piece by piece.

The Art Institute and Gallery be exhibiting their show Petite Art:  Small Works, Miniatures and Postcards from their February Art for the Heart event.  The show is all about small, and with small price tags it’s a great way to find something special without breaking the bank.  AI&G will also host an informal artists talk with local artists with work in the show.  The postcard sized works are only $30, and it’s a great way to support AI&G.  The AI&G Martha Gue Gift Shop will also be open until 8PM.  The Art Institute and Gallery is located on the lower level of The Gallery Building, on the Plaza.
