December 18th, 2015 from 5-8pm is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury, and the month’s theme is Decemberfest! It’s National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, so don your favorite festive outfits for a night out in Downtown Salisbury. Even without outdoor vendors or activities, there will still be tons of places to enjoy live entertainment, great sales and fabulous art!
It’s the final night of the 2015 Holiday Fine Art Show at The Art Institute and Gallery, with a special Blowout Sale on their Holiday Bazaar, perfect for last-minute, affordable holiday gifts! It’s also the last chance to view Diana Mitchell’s solo exhibition in the AIG Foyer Gallery, and to buy raffle tickets for your chance to win the SU-swag decorated tree on display in the Gallery Building window up on the Plaza. Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will hold the closing reception for both its current exhibitions. DarkGlass, a solo exhibition by Alice Pixley Young, explores the forest and the domestic space as places we project our fears. Sculptural installations present both spaces as characters; both soothing and alarming. Chloë Bass, The Book of Everyday Instruction, Chapter Two: Things I’ve Seen People Do Lately explores the dynamics of voyeurism and demonstrates the poetics of how we come together accidentally.

The downtown bars and restaurants are also ready for a night filled with special events and entertainment. The Brick Room is having happy hour from 4-7, an Ugly Sweater Contest with winners announced at 9pm, reverse happy hour from 9-1 with DJ VO and specials on Holiday beers all night long! For the dinner crowd, Sushi de Kanpai, Mojo’s and Market Street will have fabulous specials and quiet dining. Roadie Joe’s will have dinner specials for the whole family and live music by the Hooplahs 5:30 – 8:30. Downtown Trolley service will start earlier at 5 PM in front of the Perdue School of Business and will run until 7 PM. Service will resume later that night at 9 PM and run until 2 AM. Boarding is only $1 and will bring you from Salisbury University and surrounding areas to 3rd Friday and surrounding Downtown destinations.
