Georgetown is tuning up for a night of great food, special entertainment and poignant tributes at the 8th Annual Wings & Wheels Festival Dinner & Show at 6PM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Coastal Delaware Airport, 21553 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.
This popular Wings & Wheels pre-festival event is reminiscent of the “camp shows” made popular during WWII which featured hugely famous American celebrities who entertained troops overseas during war time and helped “keep up morale.” Local favorite, Smooth Sound will headline the evening’s entertainment with its 16-piece, 1940s-era jazz and swing band, and dancing is encouraged!
In keeping with 1940s popular culture, the Ultimate Abbot & Costello Tribute Show will also entertain the audience with hilarious comedy routines they have honed to perfection. With the comedy and music of the day, all held in an airplane hangar decorated with WWII memorabilia and photos, you’ll think you’ve been transported back into time. A full course dinner with light beverages will be provided by Lighthouse Catering and 16 Mile Brewery will be on hand with their handcrafted beers. Guests may bring their own wine.
This year’s Wings & Wheels Dinner & Show will be made even more special as it will include a toast & tribute by representatives from Moet Hennessy, the world renowned cognac distributor, in celebration of the 100th birthday of esteemed guest and historic figure, Lt. Col. Dick Cole. Lt. Col. Cole is one of only two remaining Doolittle Raiders, and is returning for his third tour of duty at the Wings & Wheels Festival weekend. “This promises to be an unforgettable moment during an unforgettable night,” said Linda Price, Wings & Wheels event organizer. “The Wings & Wheels Dinner & Show kicks off a whole weekend which highlights World War II and its veterans, and features many of the ‘wings and wheels’ of the same era.”
The Wings & Wheels Dinner & Show has been a consistent sell-out over the years, so reserve your seat today. Tickets are $45 and on sale at www.wings-wheels.com or call the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce at 302-856-1544.
