Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), is pleased to announce that Kevin M. Shertz, AIA., recently attained his professional architectural licensure in the state of Virginia. In addition to his licensure in Virginia, Shertz is a registered architect in Maryland and became licensed in Delaware earlier this year.
Since joining the firm in 2018, Shertz has used his expertise with custom home design for single-family residences to help the firm expand its architectural capabilities. He provides a full spectrum of architecture services for residential clients including, schematic design, conceptual planning, feasibility studies, pre-design analysis and construction documentation. Shertz also has specialized expertise in waterfront properties, new construction, and renovating and remodeling existing properties.
Shertz graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies, along with a three-year degree in Interior and Environmental Design from the Pennsylvania School of Art. Prior to joining DBF, Shertz owned his own architectural practice in Chestertown, Maryland and received the AIA Chesapeake Bay Citation Award for his architectural design work on the “Hollywood Beach House,” in Chesapeake City, Maryland.
“As the demand for custom homes continues to rise on the Eastern Shore, it became apparent that we needed to expand our professional staff. Furthermore, the pandemic has reshaped the way we utilize spaces in our home, and we’re seeing an uptick in interest of in-home offices. Kevin has taken the initiative to become licensed in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia to ensure that DBF can assist anyone on the Delmarva Peninsula. We are pleased with the devotion and professional interest Kevin has embraced to serve our clients in the most advantageous way possible,” said President Michael R. Wigley, AIA, LEED AP.
