Memo Diriker to Speak at Rotary Club Jan 15

The Rotary Club of Salisbury is pleased to welcome to its Thursday, January 15 meeting Dr. Memo Diriker, Director of the Business, Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University.  His presentation is entitled “International Business Opportunities for Shore Businesses.”

Dr. Diriker, a Past President of the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club, is also a Professor of Business and Economic Development at Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business.

He is the Immediate-Past President of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the boards of Leadership Maryland and the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.  He is  a Past President of the American Marketing Association (AMA) in Boston, Massachusetts.  During his AMA Presidency, he was also a senior advisor to the Board of Directors of the Sales and Marketing Executives of Greater Boston, Inc. Dr. Diriker had also served on the board of the Network of International Business Schools for over 20 years, in many capacities, including as the organization’s Vice-President.

As Director of BEACON, Dr. Diriker advises a large number of private, public, and nonprofit sector organizations.  During his tenure at BEACON, he has served as the principal investigator on numerous research projects, totaling over $16 million in awards. He is currently working on a two-year study of Offshore Wind Energy Supply Chain and Workforce Development Challenges and Opportunities for the State of Maryland.  In addition, he serves on two committees of the Business Network for Maryland Offshore Wind (BizMDOSW).

In addition to a book he co-authored, Dr. Diriker has authored or co-authored many articles in academic and practitioner publications and is a regular contributor to the print and electronic media in the Mid-Atlantic Region on business and economic trends.  He is a sought-after speaker at many regional, national, and international seminars and conferences.

Dr. Diriker is the recipient of many honors and awards, including an Influential Marylander award and a University System of Maryland Board of Regents Award for Outstanding Public Service.
