The public is invited to a free virtual poetry reading by Ada Limón, U.S. poet laureate, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Wor-Wic Community College, on Wednesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom.

Limón was appointed the nation’s poet laureate in July 2022, the first Latina to hold the position. She was named one of Time magazine’s “12 Women of the Year” for 2024, has published seven collections of poetry, including “Lucky Wreck,” winner of the Autumn House Poetry Prize, and “Bright Dead Things,” and was a finalist for the National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award. She has also written two children’s books, “In Praise of Mystery” and “And, Too, the Fox.” One of her poems was engraved on the Europa Clipper spacecraft, which will reach the Jupiter system in 2030.

“We are honored to be able to share such an important American voice with our Lower Shore community as part of the college’s 50th anniversary,” said Deborah Casey, Ph.D., president of Wor-Wic.

The event, part of the college’s Echoes & Visions literary series, is free and open to the public. Visit the events section of worwic.edu for more information.
