Salisbury, MD — Megan Outten, a lifelong Wicomico County resident, former Salisbury City Councilwoman, and dedicated public servant, has officially filed her candidacy for Wicomico County Council District 7.
Since announcing her intention to run earlier this year, Outten has spent months engaging directly with residents across District 7, attending neighborhood meetings, hosting community resource events, and working alongside local leaders to identify shared priorities and unmet needs.
COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY
“My path has always been about people,” said Outten. “From growing up here in Wicomico to serving on the Salisbury City Council, every challenge I’ve faced has strengthened my commitment to public service. Over the past several months, I’ve met with residents all across District 7, and I am committed to carrying their voices into every decision about our county’s future.”
On the Salisbury City Council, Outten built a record of proactive leadership, helping close infrastructure gaps, supporting first responders by passing the Eastern Shore’s first municipal labor code, and advancing affordable housing for residents. Her campaign priorities reflect what residents across District 7 have repeatedly identified as critical needs.
- Strengthening public education funding and investment in youth opportunity
- Modernizing infrastructure and planning ahead for growth
- Expanding housing options and childcare for families
- Supporting seniors, youth, and underserved residents
- Ensuring safe, connected, and thriving neighborhoods
A CAMPAIGN BUILT ON CONVERSATION
Beginning in December, Outten will launch Mornings with Megan, a monthly community listening series held on the first Saturday of each month. These coffee-hour conversations will provide an open, accessible opportunity for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and discuss the issues shaping their neighborhoods.
“These conversations matter,” Outten said. “People deserve to feel heard by the people who want to represent them, and all good leadership starts with listening. These conversations will help shape the work ahead, and I look forward to sitting down with my neighbors to talk about the future we’re building together.”
The coffee chats will rotate through communities across District 7, ensuring every corner of the district has a chance to connect in a welcoming, accessible setting. Residents can follow Outten’s campaign on social media or email info@meganoutten.com for upcoming locations and details for each monthly session.
