Salisbury, MD — The Society of St. Andrew Delmarva proudly announces Dr. Nadine Burton of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) as a recipient of a Feeding Delmarva Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership and commitment to addressing food insecurity across the region.
Dr. Burton, together with her dedicated team of farmers at Tallawah Farms and UMES, cultivated and donated an impressive 12,888 servings of fresh, nutrient‑dense produce during the 2025 growing season. This farm‑fresh food was distributed through the Society of St. Andrew Delmarva to local feeding agencies throughout Wicomico County, ensuring that thousands of neighbors in need had access to healthy, high‑quality fruits and vegetables.
“We are honored to recognize Dr. Burton for her vision, compassion, and hands‑on leadership,” said Alena Wright, Program Coordinator Society of St. Andrew Delmarva. “Her work exemplifies what community‑centered agriculture can achieve, focused on real nourishment, real impact, and real hope.”
The Society of St. Andrew Delmarva partners with farmers, volunteers, and community organizations to reduce food waste and fight hunger by rescuing and redistributing fresh produce
