SALISBURY, MD – As Wicomico County schools prepare to welcome a new class of educators for the 2026-2027 school year, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) is once again bringing together the local business community to ensure those teachers receive a warm Delmarva welcome.

Through the Chamber’s annual Welcome New Teacher Bags Program, newly hired public and private school educators relocating to the area will receive bags filled with useful resources, gifts, special offers, and community information designed to help them feel at home both in the classroom and throughout the region.

The program is coordinated by Paula Nichols, SACC Ambassador and owner of Motif Expressions Promotional Products, who works with Chamber members and community partners to assemble the bags each summer.

“Teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of our community,” said Bill Chambers, President/CEO of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. “These welcome bags are a simple but meaningful way to show our appreciation and to let new educators know that they are joining a community that values their contributions and is invested in their success. It’s one of the many ways our business community comes together to support education and those who dedicate their careers to serving our students.”

The Chamber is grateful for the continued support of local businesses and organizations that help make the program possible each year. Contributions provide educators with practical items, local discounts, and information about the many services, attractions, and opportunities available throughout Delmarva.

Businesses and nonprofit organizations are invited to participate by donating promotional items, gift cards, coupons, school supplies, or other useful materials for approximately 200 welcome bags. Please note that flyers and brochures will not be accepted.

Monetary contributions of $100 to $150 are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional items for the bags. All participating businesses and organizations will be recognized in materials distributed to the teachers, as well as through Chamber social media and other promotional efforts.

Donations of 200 items may be delivered to the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce office, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. beginning immediately. (The Chamber office is closed on Fridays through Labor Day.)

The deadline for contributions is Monday, August 3, 2026.

The bag-packing event will take place in early August, with distribution scheduled before the start of the new school year.
