Salisbury, MD — The City of Salisbury, through its Arts, Business & Culture Department, is continuing its support for local arts and cultural activity with the Salisbury Street Performers Initiative, an approach that establishes clear guidelines for live artistic performance in public spaces throughout the City.
The initiative welcomes a range of artistic expression, including acoustic music, singing, dance, magic, juggling, and other forms of live entertainment. It supports opportunities for individuals with an affinity for the arts to share their work in public spaces while maintaining safe, accessible, and shared use of sidewalks, parks, and plazas.
Performers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome, including musicians, singers, dancers, magicians, jugglers, mimes, and other live entertainers. Youth performers may participate when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Performances are permitted daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and must follow guidelines designed to maintain pedestrian flow, accessibility, and shared public use. Performers are expected to maintain clear walkways, avoid blocking entrances, and respect nearby businesses and fellow performers.
Performers may accept voluntary tips in accordance with City guidelines. The City does not regulate or require compensation for performances.
“Our downtown and public spaces play an important role in the City’s overall economic and community vibrancy,” said Mayor Randy Taylor. “By supporting street performers, we are strengthening activity in these spaces and enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.”
“Salisbury continues to see meaningful growth in arts and cultural expression,” said Arts, Business & Culture Department Director Scott Roberts. “Salisbury Street Performing builds on that momentum by expanding opportunities for artists while contributing to a stronger, more connected cultural environment across the City.”
