The Recovery Resource Center (RRC) will kick off National Recovery Month 2026 with a series of community events highlighting hope, healing, and the collective commitment to recovery across the Lower Eastern Shore.
National Recovery Month Launch Event – September 3, 2026
RRC will host the Lower Shore National Recovery Month Launch Event on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wicomico Public Library – Paul S. Sarbanes Branch.
The event will feature submissions from the Lower Shore Addiction Awareness Visual Arts Competition, representing artists from Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties. As noted in the event flyer, “The evening will include remarks from guest speakers, local officials, and community leaders who will share their perspectives on addiction awareness, and the importance of community support.” Light refreshments will be provided by RRC.
Community Partner Events Throughout September
National Recovery Month is a regional effort, and many partners are hosting events to raise awareness and strengthen recovery support:
• Lower Shore Goes Purple Kick-Off– Shorebirds Stadium, August 29, 2026
• Shatter the Stigma Walk – Wor-Wic Community College, Saturday, September 26, 2026
These events reflect the shared commitment across the Lower Shore to reduce stigma, celebrate recovery, and support individuals and families impacted by addiction.
Rise for Recovery Breakfast Fundraiser – October 8, 2026
As National Recovery Month concludes, RRC will continue the momentum with its annual Rise for Recovery Breakfast on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Wicomico Civic Center from 7:30–9:00 AM.
From the attached press release: “With National Recovery Month beginning soon, the Rise for Recovery Breakfast stands as an early rallying point—reminding our community that recovery support must continue long after September ends.”
This year’s fundraiser comes at a critical time. RRC is facing a $200,000 reduction in grant funding even as demand for recovery services continues to rise. Community support is essential to sustain free, peer-led programs that help individuals build recovery capital, navigate housing and life needs, and maintain long-term sobriety.
