Eastern Shore SHRM Announces Two Fall Workshops Focused on AI Safety, Compliance, and Leading Through Uncertainty

Eastern Shore SHRM is excited to announce that speaker, John Rood, specialist in AI governance and safety and founder of Proceptual, will be speaking about, “What HR Leaders Need to Know about AI Safety & Compliance on September 22, 2026, from 9:30am – 10:30. This meeting is a **VIRTUAL ONLY EVENT.** In this session, Mr. Rood will speak about, The safety challenges around implementation of AI – particularly the challenges of bias, the regulatory and compliance challenges facing HR leaders regarding AI and the steps HR leaders should take now to implement AI safely and legally.

 John Rood is the Founder of Proceptual, where he specializes in AI governance and safety. He teaches these subjects at Michigan State University and the University of Chicago, sharing his expertise with generations of leaders. As a Certified AI Systems Auditor, John has conducted AI audit, governance, and training projects for a diverse range of organizations, from Global 50 corporations to innovative startups.

October Training

Eastern Shore SHRM is excited to announce that speaker, Sue DeLazaro, Ideal Culture Lab, will be speaking about, “Leading Through Uncertainty: Practical Skills to Stay Steady, Connected, and Effective on October 27, 2026, from 8:30am – 12:30. This is an In-Person Half-Day program at the Residence Inn, Salisbury that will include a continental breakfast and a boxed lunch. In this session, Ms. DeLazaro will speak about how to apply structured thinking to assess situations, separate facts from assumptions, and make sound decisions in uncertain conditions, communicate effectively with your people to maintain alignment and drive performance, Adjust your actions and decisions to stay aligned with business priorities in changing conditions, and Coach others and model leadership behaviors that support performance in uncertain conditions.

Sue DeLazaro is the founder of Ideal Culture Lab and a speaker, coach, and trainer focused on emotional intelligence. For 20 years she has worked with individuals, leaders and teams to strengthen how they think, interact, and perform at work, with a practical, real-world approach. Sue is a contributing author to Emotional Intelligence 2.0 and Team Emotional Intelligence 2.0 and holds an M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  She has served on the Eastern Shore SHRM Board since 2023.
