SALISBURY, Md. The Bosserman Center for Conflict Resolution at Salisbury University and the Department of Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution welcome two distinguished speakers to campus this October as part of its One Person Can Make a Difference Lecture Series, offering the community two very different firsthand perspectives on leadership, conflict and the power of individual action.

On Monday, October 12, at 7 p.m. in the Worcester Room of the Commons, American diplomat and former Reagan administration advisor Dr. Kenneth Adelman takes audiences inside the historic 1986 Reykjavík Summit between President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Adelman was present during the summit and shares a firsthand account of the negotiations, personalities, tensions, and decisions surrounding one of the Cold War’s most consequential diplomatic encounters.

Then, on Monday, October 26, at 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall, Great Hall, war correspondent, humanitarian and advocate Mitzi Perdue presents Inside Ukraine’s Hidden Mental Health Crisis and the Race to Respond. After seven trips to Ukraine, Perdue encountered widespread psychological distress and limited access to mental health professionals. Her lecture explores how those experiences led to an initiative involving Ukrainian psychotherapists and artificial intelligence that ultimately resulted in a 24/7 mental health platform.

Together, the two programs explore a central question of the One Person Can Make a Difference Lecture Series: What can individuals do when they find themselves facing events, problems or decisions larger than themselves?

BOTH LECTURES ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
