The 1st annual Salisbury Bike partY will happen in Downtown Salisbury next to the Public Library on Saturday, April 22nd. This is a free event for families and bicycle riders of all ages and skill levels, even if you have never ridden a bike. Loaner bikes provided on a first come basis by The Wheelhouse.
There will be a 6-mile fun ride at a casual pace departing Downtown at 11:00am followed by a festival from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Free registration for the ride opens at 10:30am. Costumes, decorated bikes, and music are encouraged on the fun ride, with prizes awarded by EVO. The group will follow an easy route around Salisbury, staying together with a stop at Salisbury University and the City Park before returning Downtown.
From 12:00pm to 4:00pm festival activities will include closed streets forming a ¾ mile car-free loop around Downtown streets for registered riders to enjoy at their own pace. Get Ramped will provide ramps for a pop-up skate park and Bike-SBY will conduct a skills course for beginner riders. A signed waiver is required to participate in any bicycle activities.
Local bike vendors will have items available for purchase and provide live demos on maintenance and other topics. A bike swap will occur from 12:00pm-2:00pm for the public to sell their bicycles and parts. Local bicycle organizations will be present to highlight the variety of bicycle related events and activities in and around Salisbury.
Free bike valet parking will be available. Parking Lot 1 will be closed, but car parking is available in the parking garage and other nearby lots. Food will be available at the Sobo’s on the Road food truck and alcohol will be available at Headquarters Live.
Donations, including unwanted bicycles and parts, will benefit The Wheelhouse, a non-profit organization dedicated to community outreach through bicycling.
