Salisbury, MD — Grab your clubs and join the fun as the Wicomico County Education Foundation (WCEF) hosts its Second Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Green Hill Country Club. Following the success of its inaugural event last year, the tournament returns with even more opportunities for businesses and community members to support local students while enjoying a day on the course.

The fundraiser will feature a 10 a.m. shotgun start and will raise funds for WCEF’s Middle School Sports Program, which offers Flag Football, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Volleyball, Unified Bocce, Basketball, Soccer and Track & Field, including the recent expansion of Unified Bocce to 5th-grade students.

The program’s impact extends well beyond the playing field. Since the introduction of middle school athletics, participation has increased by 35%, while student-athletes have demonstrated higher GPAs, improved attendance, and fewer discipline incidents. Participation in sports also helps students develop valuable leadership, teamwork and communication skills that contribute to their success in school and in life.

“Middle school athletics provide students with opportunities to grow both academically and personally,” said Dr. Micah Stauffer, Superintendent of Wicomico County Public Schools. “We’ve seen firsthand how participation in sports can improve student engagement, encourage positive behaviors and help young people develop the leadership and teamwork skills they will carry with them long after the season ends. The support of the Wicomico County Education Foundation and community partners makes these opportunities possible for thousands of students.”

Teams of four can register for $600, which includes greens fees, cart fees, breakfast, snacks, and lunch. Businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate through sponsorship opportunities, including:

  • Title Sponsor — $5,000
  • Champion Sponsor — $3,000
  • Booster Sponsor — $2,000
  • Putting Contest Sponsor — $500
  • Hole Sponsor — $200

Sponsorship packages offer a variety of promotional benefits, including tournament signage, logo placement on event materials, social media recognition, and participation opportunities.

“Last year’s tournament exceeded our expectations and demonstrated just how much our community values investing in students,” said Michelle Wright of the Wicomico County Education Foundation. “The enthusiasm from our sponsors, golfers and volunteers helped us make a meaningful impact, and we’re excited to build on that momentum this year. The Middle School Sports Program is helping more students get involved, succeed academically and build important life skills through athletics. While the tournament is a fun day on the course, its impact extends far beyond the fairways by creating opportunities that benefit students throughout the school year.”

The Wicomico County Education Foundation works year-round to enhance educational opportunities for students and educators throughout Wicomico County Public Schools by funding innovative programs, student enrichment initiatives and athletic opportunities that might not otherwise be available.

Participants can expect a day filled with friendly competition, networking opportunities, contests, prizes, and community spirit while helping local students succeed.
