Apple Discount Drugs Named Change Champions

Fruitland – September, 2016 – Apple Discount Drugs is pleased to announce diabetes educators Geoff Twigg and John Motsko have been named Change Champions by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. The two participated in the organization’s national meeting this month in San Diego, California.

The American Association of Diabetes Educators has 15,000 members and more than 3,500 participants attended the association’s national meeting. Apple’s Diabetes Center Certified Diabetes Educators contributed to the national meeting in the following ways:

* Motsko and Twigg presented information on “The Role of Pharmacist Driven Medication Therapy Management in Patients with Diabetes”. They described their successes in combining medication management and diabetes education for the reduction of A1C lappleevels and medication adherence and use/misuse. The session was viewed by over 300 individuals over the four day conference.

* Motsko was one of the presenters in the session on “Diabetes Educators as the Leaders in Digital Health”. This session discussed the emerging role of Mobile Prescription Therapy-Blue Star Diabetes-as an all-inclusive application to assist the patient in diabetes self-management. Motsko specifically addressed the role of Mobile Prescription Therapy in maximizing mediation use/adherence and selection for patients with diabetes. Over 400 individuals attended the presentation.

* Motsko and Twigg were recognized in the first general session as one of eight individuals in the country chosen by AADE as “Change Champions” for their progress work in establishing a diabetes center in a non-traditional setting (a community pharmacy), for integrating medication management in their services and for their progressive use of technology in the education of individuals with diabetes.

This is the second year in a row a team from Apple has been honored to present educational sessions at the National Meeting of AADE.
