SALISBURY, MD—For the past four decades, choreographers Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer blend live performance and video technology to create a unique kinetic experience.
The duo bring two of their Bridgman Packer Dance productions, Voyeur and Table Bed Mirror, to Salisbury University 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 19. An artist talk and interactive installation precedes the performance 7 p.m. Monday, February 18. Both are in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
With the paintings of Edward Hopper as a point of departure, Voyeur bears witness to the fragmented moments of private lives. Table Bed Mirror, the latest in their genre-breaking integration of dance, navigates through an illogical and fantastical night of dreams.
Dance Magazine has called Bridgman Packer Dance a “tour de force.” The New York Times has hailed performances as “ingenious … magical and fascinating.” The Boston Globe has lauded the troupe as “flat-out exhilarating.” The Minneapolis Star Tribune has called it simply “the future of dance.” The choreographers recently received a New York Dance and Performance Award (the “Bessie”) for exceptional achievement.
Their SU performance is sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Office and funded through the Mid Atlantic Tour program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council.
Admission is free and the public is invited. No tickets are required. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
