The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Goslee Youth Initiative awarded over $87,000 in grants to fourteen area nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools at a reception hosted at the Community Foundation.
The Goslee Youth Initiative was created in honor of Gladys Goslee, a long-time Friend of the Community Foundation, who passed away late last year. Gladys was an ardent supporter of area youth having taught for over 40 years and who continued to serve as a mentor following her retirement from education in 2001. Gladys’ husband Charles and daughter Vonda Green were in attendance to present the awards to the following organizations:

Eleven 21 (Epoch Dreams Center) – to support the Epoch Dreams After School
Fruitland Community Center – to support a summer youth program for Fruitland area at-risk youth
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay – to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience Program
James M. Bennett High School – to support the Bennett Empowering Women to Improve Self Esteem Program
Maple Shade Youth and Family Services – to support a youth depression psycho-educational cognitive behavioral adolescent intervention program
Pocomoke High School – to support the Pocomoke 100 college tour
Salisbury Horizons – to support the Salisbury Horizon intensive academic summer program
Somerset County Public Schools – to support the Somerset County Public Schools SAILS After School Program
Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children – to support the educational Camp Jordan summer program hosted at Wor-Wic Community College
Wicomico Public Library – to support an out of school STEM learning program
Worcester Youth and Family Counseling – to expand enrichment and college/career preparation components of the SAGES, Berlin Youth Club, and SABERS programs
