On Thursday, July 23, 2015, Congressman Andy Harris’ office will host its first of several local forums to provide personal and valuable services to Marylander’s on the Eastern Shore. The first forum focuses on consumer safety, particularly for seniors.
The Consumer Safety Forum is a direct response to many calls, letters, and emails the Congressman’s office receives from constituents who have experienced identity theft or other fraudulent business practices. Consumer protection and education is becoming increasingly significant. Unfortunately, our Nation’s senior population is often targeted by criminals and unscrupulous businesses. This forum is designed to provide useful information to guard the seniors of Maryland’s First District from these fraudulent practices.
In addition to representatives from Congressman Harris’ offices, a select group of experts from the Federal Trade Commission; the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department; the Caroline County Commissioner’s Office; and Mid Shore Pro Bono will be on hand to provide all attendees with the most current information on protecting targeted victims from a broad range of scams.
The Consumer Safety Forum will be held from 10:00AM to 11:30AM at the Denton Library, located at 100 Market Street, Denton, MD 21629.
For more information, call Congressman Harris’ Kent Island Office: 410-643-5425.
