Delmarva Chicken Festival Seeks Early Participants

Fry Pan 2012

On June 20-21, 2014 at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park near Centreville MD, the 65th and FINAL Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held. With this longtime Delmarva tradition coming to an end, festival organizers are looking for persons who participated in the event’s early years and beyond.

Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), overall sponsor of the festival since it began in 1948, is seeking to identify persons who attended the first festival at Georgetown, Delaware in 1948 or who had leadership roles with the event over the years so they may be invited to attend the final festival and be recognized there.  DPI is looking for persons in these categories:

1.  Persons who attended the first Delmarva Chicken Festival (then known as The Chicken of Tomorrow Festival).

2.  Persons who reigned as a Delmarva Poultry Princess (first known as Queen of Delmarva) or Little Delmarva Poultry Princess between 1948 and 1983.

3.  First place winners in the Delmarva Chicken Cooking Contest between 1949 and 1998.

4.  General chairmen for a Delmarva Chicken Festival between 1948 and the present.

Persons meeting any of these qualifications are asked to contact Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI) at 800-878-2449 (302-856-9037) or email Connie Parvis at parvis@dpichicken.com.
