Delmarva Power to Participate in Earth Day Celebration at Salisbury Zoo

Salisbury Zoo

Approximately 3,000 people are expected to visit the Salisbury Zoo between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 to participate in the zoo’s annual Earth Day celebration. The Delmarva Power-sponsored event is designed to increase awareness of local and international conservation and environmental concerns, and give people the tools to take action. “Education without action doesn’t really do much,” said Mary Seemann, the zoo’s marketing and development associate.
Delmarva Power employees will be on hand to distribute energy-saving information and demonstrate the energy- and money-saving benefits of using compact fluorescent light bulbs. They also will give out free American plum tree seedlings, tote bags, coloring books, calendars, key chain lights and sunglasses, while supplies last.
For those who want to kick-start their day on April 25, they can participate in the annual 5K Zoo Stampede at the Salisbury Zoo. The popular running and walking event will begin at 9 a.m. with proceeds benefiting the zoo.

Support of Earth Day is just one way in which Delmarva Power is committed to environmental stewardship. Another signature environmental program for Delmarva Power is the company’s longtime sponsorship of Coastal Cleanup. That annual event attracts about 2,500 volunteers who take time on a Saturday morning in September to pick up trash along riverbanks and beaches in Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.
