Pinehurst Olympic Improvers

Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended Challenges and present their solutions at Tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills- they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving. Every year, 125,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries advance to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee.
In March, the Pinehurst Olympic Improvers, from Pinehurst Elementary, participated in the DI Regional Tournament and advanced to the State Tournament. The State Tournament was held in April 5th at UMBC. The Pinehurst Olympic Improvers competed against 18 of the top scoring elementary schools, in the state of Maryland at the Improv challenge. They advanced to 2nd place, enabling them to advance to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee May 21st-24th.
Now the team has another challenge…. Fundraising enough money to get there! THEY NEED YOUR HELP! Teams need to fundraise approximately $5,000 in the month of May leading up to Global Finals. This money will be used to provide room and board at the University of Tennessee for the teams members and coach. Please consider making a tax deductible monetary donation or donating a gift certificate for foods or services that can be raffled off, a silent auction basket and/or any other ideas or ways you can help.
Please look for upcoming events our school will be hosting in efforts to raise money! We will have a fundraiser chart displayed near the office to help track our progress toward reaching our goal!
