Dedication of Fellowship Commons Scheduled for April 28th at 1pm

Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted construction management and general contracting firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of construction of the Fellowship Commons, an addition to St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church at 302 North Baltimore Avenue in Ocean City, Maryland.  The 2,300 square foot, two-story addition was built to replace space lost from the destruction of the rectory in 2013 after a fire claimed two lives including that of Reverend David Dingwall, the Rector of the church. An accessible restroom in DeWees Hall, the parish’s community hall was also added during construction.

“The completion of the Fellowship Commons is the culmination of a journey of faith that proves this Church and our members are truly a resurrection people,” said Father Matthew D’Amario, Rector.  “I am proud to have served on the Church Reconstruction Team that has made this beautiful improvement to our church campus a reality”, added Tom Shuster, Project Manager for the Church.

“This marks a new beginning after a traumatic loss for the parish and surrounding Ocean City community,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.  “We are thankful to have the opportunity to help a time-honored and admired church rebuild to continue its mission of serving others.”

The addition is equipped with a larger, more modern elevator, additional storage space, a new ground level lobby, gathering space at the sanctuary level, a meeting and conference space, a new driveway and additional restroom in the parish’s community hall.  The expansion fills the void left on the north side of the church created by the demolition of the rectory and has created a positive presence on Baltimore Avenue, facing downtown Ocean City.

The Dedication – The Right Rev’d Santosh Marray, Bishop of the Diocese of Easton and the Vestry Wardens of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church will hold the Blessing of The Fellowship Commons on Saturday April 28 at 1pm at 302 North Baltimore Avenue, in Ocean City, Maryland.
