Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County will be hosting their annual Chefs for Habitat Gala March 3, 2018. The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m. and feature a silent and live auction. Most notably, the event will highlight local chefs from the area’s favorite restaurants and catering companies showcasing their talents with appetizers, entrées and desserts.
To join the chefs, Habitat is searching for a varied list of “Celebrity Sous Chefs” to team up with the culinary experts and show off their own talents. Habitat staff are looking for eager and enthusiastic movers and shakers of the community who share Habitat’s values and have a competitive spirit. Sous chefs will be taught a skill by their partnered professional chef and will participate in a competition to test who has mastered their newly acquired skill the best. All Sous chefs are asked to raise money in support of the event and Habitat’s mission to eliminate substandard housing. The winners of this two-part competition will be named on the night of the gala.
Habitat for Humanity can’t pull off these great events without the help of volunteers and this year’s Chefs event is no different. Habitat is also in need of 25 volunteers to help facilitate various activities including the silent auction and live auctions, wine grab, etc.
Habitat will also need volunteers to act as wait staff, greeters, and ushers. This is a perfect opportunity for groups or clubs to work together, or individuals with hospitality experience who want to serve their community.
Volunteers 21 or older are preferred. Volunteers should also be willing to attend rehearsal and meetings prior to the event.
