The Local Owner Restaurant Association (LORA) will be holding its International Taste for Tomorrow Gala on March 7, 2015 beginning at 5 p.m, and will feature diverse food from local restaurants, contests, and live music.
Light vegetables with dips and freshly cut fruit and cheese displays will be served beginning at 5 p.m., featuring live music by Mickey Justice and friends. At 6pm the buffett will open with food from 14 different local restaurants, also featuring strolling musicians. At this time there will also be a silent auction, a ‘guess the disguised characters’ from community players, a vote for the best dish, and time to visit with other guests. Around 8:30 p.m., a live auction will take place with items such as jewelry, vacations in Ocean City, chefs from various local restaurants (Vinny, Imade, and Old West) plus many other items. After the live auction, prizes will be given for contests, which include $100 vouchers to LORA Restaurants and season tickets to community players.
All of the money raised during this event is given back to the community thru LORA, and a portion of proceeds is contributed to a scholarship fund for graduating seniors in the area going into the Culinary Hospitality field. In previous years, the event has raised nearly $20,000.00.
