On April 19th, the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce joined the Lower Shore Parkinson’s Group (LSPG) for a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the beginning of their 8th year of service. The LSPG provides a wide variety of activities to build public awareness and improve the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. Housed at the MAC Center, Inc., to a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that collaborates with other support groups and universities with shared objectives. LSPG organizes support groups, recreational activities and educational materials to offer hope and practical strategies for those living with Parkinson’s disease. Art Cooley, one of the LSPG founding members, was recognized for his tireless and humble leadership of the group which has grown in size and scope since its humble beginning with a few people gathered in Jan Brink’s living room. Cooley read one of two Proclamations received by both Mayor of Salisbury, Jake Day, and Wicomico County Executive, Bob Culver, declaring April 19, 2017 as Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Day.
