MAC Inc. Healing Rose Garden Party June 16

a really hot brief

A Healing Rose Garden Party will be held Thursday June 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at MAC Incorporated in Salisbury. The summer cocktail reception will be a celebration of the extended partnership of Susan G. Komen® Maryland and MAC, and the Life After Breast cancer program through which the Healing Rose Community Garden was created.

Maryland Sen. James N. Mathias Jr., who lost his wife to breast cancer, will speak. Also planned is the unveiling of a new sign for the garden, and the presentation of a check to continue funding for the garden and Life After Breast Cancer Program. Light fare will be provided.

“It makes me happy that women coming through treatment have a chance to take part in a program like this to reach full recovery after their treatment,” said Lori Yates, Community Health manager for Susan G. Komen® Maryland and herself a breast cancer survivor.

“The strength of this partnership is a great example to bring to the Wicomico business and medical community,” Yates added.

The Life After Breast Cancer program helps cancer survivors navigate through after-care resources, helping restore a sense of independence and a new sense of self. The garden helps survivors through this journey.

Komen® Maryland is a top-ranked affiliate in the world’s largest breast cancer charity, and since 1993 has contributed more than $37 million to local breast health programs and national research.

Since 2008, Komen® Maryland has provided more than $500,000 to support MAC’s activities with breast cancer survivors.
