ANNAPOLIS, MD — During a “Congressional Roundup” on Wednesday, Sept. 9, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce will give business leaders an unparalleled opportunity to hear directly from the state’s Congressional Delegation and policy experts from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The elected officials on the agenda are in the midst of crafting the federal government’s policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to hearing high-powered briefings on that and other vital issues, attendees will have the opportunity to share their policy priorities and concerns with members of the Maryland Delegation and leaders of the U.S. Chamber.

This is the second year of the event, which will be held in a virtual format out of an abundance of public-health caution. Presentations are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Senator Ben Cardin
  • Senator Chris Van Hollen
  • Representative Anthony Brown
  • Representative Andy Harris
  • Representative Jamie Raskin
  • Representative Dutch Ruppersberger
  • Representative David Trone
  • Neil Bradley, Chief Policy Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Key topics on the agenda include:

  • Stimulus and relief policies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Status of liability protections as businesses strive to operate safely during the pandemic
  • Potential strategies to close race-based gaps in employment, entrepreneurship, education, and criminal justice
  • Key infrastructure and transportation issues
  • Looking ahead to the November elections

Roundup attendees will have access to a downloadable PDF giving them background and insight into the topics under discussion.

“These are unprecedented and highly uncertain times for our business community,” said Christine Ross, president and CEO of the Maryland Chamber. “The 2020 Congressional Roundup will provide business leaders with key insights from and access to the policy makers and experts who are in the thick of making decisions critical to the recovery of Maryland’s economy—and to the long-term success of our state’s business community.”
