THE MD ENERGY ADMINISTRATION’S “TOP 10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ENERGY CODE FOR HOMES” TRAINING SESSIONS FOR BUILDING PROFESSIONALS
Free training sessions for the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) compliance verification project are starting soon. Top 10 Things You Need to Know About the Energy Code for Homes was developed by Mike DeWein, a nationally recognized energy code educator, and Dave Burch of the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) under the guidance of the MEA.
Two training sessions will be held Monday, September 15, at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury. The session times are 8am – 12n and 1pm – 5pm.
Top 10 Things You Need to Know About the Energy Code for Homes, was designed with construction professionals in mind. Code officials, builders, trade contractors, designers and other construction professionals will learn strategies for designing, building and renovating energy code-compliant homes. Attendees will be eligible for AIA and IACET continuing education credits and will receive take-home materials.
In the training sessions, concepts of the energy code will be explained using simplified building science examples and common compliance mistakes to help attendees gain a clear picture of the Maryland Building Performance Standard and 2012 IECC.
