On Aug. 17, Governor Moore called for refinements to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, and warned of additional difficult budget decisions for the coming year during his keynote address at the annual Maryland Association of Counties Summer Conference. Moore’s speech came just hours after dozens of county officials gathered to discuss concerns about the increasing fiscal pressures placed on their respective jurisdictions as each looks for ways to best cover their portions of the Blueprint.
On taxes: As for an increase in taxes in 2025, Senate President Bill Ferguson said the bar is still high. But there could be a slowdown for Governor Moore’s priorities, like the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. Still, Ferguson says the timeline changes that may be observed likely won’t be “radical,” but there are likely shifts to be made.
