3rd Friday. October 17th. FallToberWeen.

Art & Entertainment Event in Downtown Salisbury Salisbury, MD: October 17th 2014 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury; the monthly art and entertainment event that fills the streets with artisan crafts and original art. This month 3rd Friday’s theme celebrates a little bit of everything that we love about fall. It’s a combination of a Fall Harvest Festival, Oktoberfest and an early Halloween party… a little something we like to call FallToberWeen!

The Plaza will feature live music from Borderline and the street will be jam-packed with local artists, crafters and vendors. The North Division Street will be FallToberWeen headquarters with a Halloween themed dance showcase by the Feet of Fire Performance Troupe and endless activities. Pumpkin painting, pumpkin smashing, pumpkin cornhole and more will be fun for all ages, sponsored in part by Rivers Edge Apartments and Studio for the Arts, the new artist housing development nearing completion downtown.

St. Peters Alley will be transformed into Oktoberfest Beer Street hosted by the Jaycees, with beers from five of our favorite local breweries. St. Peters Episcopal Church, downtown’s historical gem at the end of St. Peters Alley, is thrilled to join the celebration with Beers, Brat and Bach, offering an Oktoberfest themed menu, as well as mini-concerts and tours at 5:30 and 6:30.

The Friends of Wicomico Public Library will host “A Night in the Stacks” Dawn of the Unread, a zombie themed fundraiser from 6:30 – 9 pm at the Downtown Library. Get made up by a professional monster makeup artist and enjoy ghoulish grub, a horror cinema room, photo studio, thriller dance off, a live DJ and light show, and a Best Zombie Horde costume contest. It will most fun you’ve had at the library ever, and a great way to support one of Downtown’s biggest assets.

Parker Place Garden Center will be catered by Sobo’s on the Road, the restaurant’s new food truck, offering another chance to grab an EVO brew and enjoy a bite outside! Inside Parker Place building, two special events will take place. First, Soul Yoga will be doing live yoga demonstrations followed by a free all-levels yoga class. Things keep moving at 7:30 with Salisbury Salsa’s Rojo Social! Be sure to wear red and your dancing shoes! The night starts with a Beginners Salsa Lesson for first-timers, followed by an open dance.

Devreco, the team of developers responsible for the redevelopment of historic Fire Station #16, will be joined by local dignitaries and stakeholders for a ceremonial groundbreaking for Headquarters Live at 5:30. Get a sneak peek at the plans for Headquarters Live and hear more about what types of musical acts, bands and performers will be making appearances in the near future, as we celebrate this huge milestone in for the revitalization of downtown.

Salisbury University Art Galleries | Downtown Campus will be again be hosting TXTED, a group exhibition containing paintings, photographs, drawings, sculpture and installation, all utilizing humorous and “simple” texts as a tool to disarm viewers. The second exhibit is Shared Images & Stories of Maryland’s Eastern Shore Immigrants: An Exhibition of Photographs by Earl Dotter & the Migrant Clinicians Network titled Work. Respect. Dignity. The goal of this exhibition is to explore the impact of immigration amidst settled communities and the impact of migration on immigrants and their families.

The Art Institute and Gallery, in the Gallery Building, will be hosting the 2014 Fall Members Showcase. Their annual showcase gives members a chance to shine. The work of local oil painter Katrin Huber will hang in the AIG Foyer

Gallery. The Robinson Gallery will host a very special exhibit entitled Recovery – Walking Away from a Life in Crisis organized by Life Crisis, in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, featuring artworks and sculptures that were created by adults and children walking out of the darkness of abuse.

The Downtown Bars and Restaurants will have great specials for the dinner crowd, and plenty of entertainment planned for the night. Roadie Joe’s has Fernando Garza on the patio and Audio Graffiti inside from 5:30 – 8:30 and DJ Rusty Griswald from 10 to close. Mojo’s has music from DJ SL, Market Street has DJ B-Side and Cellar Door Tavern has acoustic duo Whiskeybelly. Brew River is having a Friday Night Dock Party with live music outside from 6-10 and DJ Seth B late night!

3F is an all-volunteer effort, a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District Committee. There is no charge for local artists to set up, but online advance registration is required. For More Information: 3rdFridaySby.com
