Classes offered for ages 4-12

The next session of Wicomico County Recreation & Parks’ karate program is coming up, and registration is open now.

Sensei David Doran teaches the GoJu style karate classes, which take place in the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center’s karate room on the second floor on the Flanders Rooms side. Beginner and intermediate classes will start Wednesday, Sept. 5, and advanced classes will start Tuesday, Sept. 4. Monday/Wednesday classes normally start the first Monday of each month, but there is no class on Labor Day.

Beginner classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays for boys and girls ages 4-6 from 5:30-6 p.m. and for boys and girls ages 7-12 from 6-7 p.m. Once children advance from this level, there are higher-level classes offered.

The program fee for each month’s session is $40 per person for ages 4-6 and $55 per person for ages 7-12. The first uniform is included; additional uniforms can be purchased for $10 each. A late fee of $10 will be in effect once the session begins. Registration closes after the first week of class.

Registration is available at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center box office (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.) and online at www.WicomicoRecandParks.org. Contact Allen Swiger at 410-548-4900 x108 or aswiger@wicomicocounty.org.
