Salisbury Business Woman Picks up Entrepreneurs Award in Istanbul

IWEC AWARD CEREMONY

Helen Jamieson, owner of Jaluch Ltd, an established Human Resources and Training business has just received an International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) Award in Istanbul.

Competing against women from all over the globe, Jamieson was one of 27 women honoured last week at an event hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Jamieson was the only awardee from the UK.

“I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated and to have won this prestigious award,” said Jamieson. “2015 has been a busy year for Jaluch. We have added 5 employees to the team, following the development and launch of new training product range called Bags of Learning.”

This award follows Jamieson being invited to attend an IBM sponsored mini-MBA programme in New York run by Tuck Business School for women business owners. Just two British business owners attended the programme, alongside 56 United States business owners. “This was an amazing learning experience and I wish others could experience it too,” said Jamieson, “a real opportunity to both develop my skills and network with successful business owners from around the globe.”

Continuing its busy year and business successes, in December this year Jaluch is launching its ‘not for profit’ arm ‘Global Fountain’. Through an online portal, Global Fountain will bring education and development to small business owners both in the UK around the world. Says Jamieson. “I have been privileged to be given opportunities to develop my skills that many do not get the opportunity to do.”

Global Fountain is seeking to ‘give back’ and aims to develop the skills of entrepreneurs all over the world, including the women in Saudi Arabia Jamieson has been working with in recent years.

“This is an exciting new adventure for Jaluch and one that complements our profit making training business,” says Jamieson, “20 years ago I lost my job primarily as a result of the corporate discomfort that occurred after I had a still born baby. Losing my job, though, led me into the world of business ownership. It has been very tough at times, but it has been an amazing journey and if Global Fountain can support other business owners on their own journey then I will be absolutely delighted.”

Prior to launching Global Fountain, Jamieson is currently asking UK business owners to submit their own stories, including challenges and successes to share with other business owners who are just setting out on their business journey. To find out more about this exciting venture email helen@jaluch.co.uk. Jamieson is particularly interested in receiving stories from those who have set up in business after coming out of prison, who have previously been homeless, those who have set up in business in later life and those with disabilities who have struggled to find employment and who have as a result set up on their own.
