The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Environmental & Beautification Committee is pleased to announce this year’s Stash Your Trash recyclable art project winner. On display at last week’s 3rd Friday event in Salisbury were more than 62 entries for this year’s contest which was make-a-BUG out of recyclable material. With nearly 200 votes cast by the public the winner was an Eighth Grade student from The Jefferson School in Georgetown, Delaware, who made a spectacular butterfly. The student used a plastic bottle to make the body of the bug and then meticulously crafted sections for the wings, all sculpted from recycled materials.
Also participating with entries were students from the 3rd and 4th grade Student Government Association at Delmar Elementary School, students from Salisbury University Environmental Studies Department and several families from Salisbury. The second place winner was a student from Delmar who created an elaborate ladybug garden. The entries caught the attention of event goers all night long.
The Annual Recycled Art Project is sponsored by the Salisbury University Environmental Studies Department, Chesapeake Tours and Promotions, Inc., and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce.
