Thrive: Senior Life After 55 Expo October 14

A new event in Salisbury will offer information for those age 55 and older on how to not just live, but to thrive!

Thrive: Senior Life After 55 will feature vendors offering information on a variety of businesses and services of interest to those age 55 and older.

The Thrive senior expo will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MAC Inc., the Area Agency on Aging in Salisbury. Admission is free.

Also planned are door prizes and giveaways, demonstrations and interactive activities by many of the sponsoring businesses, entertainment and food on sale, in addition to displays by area clubs and organizations.

Important informational sessions will include: “Have You Been Wondering About Medicare: 3 Hot Topics;” in addition to sessions on living wills, planned giving, the Compass Program at Coastal Hospice, and PEARLS, a new program that helps those age 60 and older who are struggling with mild depression; and information for veterans.

Entertainment will include a talk by award-winning photographer and writer Brice Stump on his new book, “Working Skipjacks of Deal Island;” and performances by The Dove, the Delmarva Dulcimer Players and line dancers. In addition, local authors Dr. Carolyn B. Stegman, Sheldon Larmore, Tom Taylor and Raylena Fields will give presentations, and area artists, Terri High, Petra Bernstein, Barbara Roles, Christina Jarmolinski and Rob de Koter will give demonstrations.

The event is being presented by MAC Inc., and the Salisbury Independent newspaper.
