The University of Maryland Eastern Shore will be hosting the Art Shell UMES Invitational Golf Tournament with events beginning Tuesday, June 9. This will be a two day tournament, ending Wednesday, June 10. The event will be held at Great Hope Golf Course in Westover, Maryland.
The invitational will kick off with ‘A Night in Havana’ Tuesday evening. Join host Art Shell, celebrity players and other guests for food, drinks and live music.
Wednesday begins with a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. at Great Hope Golf Course, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
The cost for tournament participants $200 per person and $750 per foursome. ‘A Night in Havana’ is complimentary for registered golfers and $35/person for other guests.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, Men’s and Women’s Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Best Dressed.
The Art Shell UMES Invitational supports the PGA Golf Management Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and the UMES Division I golf team. UMES is one of only 19 universities in the nation that has a PGA Golf Management Program and is the only one at an historically black college or university in the nation. UMES and golf industry leaders from the World Golf Foundation, PGA of America Club Managers Association of America and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America are collaborating to create career pathways in the golf industry for students from diverse backgrounds.
