William H. Parris, of Lincoln, Delaware, was awarded the Grand Prize in the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, Salisbury University, fourth annual Art in Nature Photo Festival’s photography contest with his photo Pressing On.
Over 1,000 entries were received from 186 photographers representing two countries and twelve states, as far away as Alberta, Canada.
Joni Simpson of Salisbury, Maryland, won Best in the Professional Division with her photo Spring Snow; Donald Westbrook of Newark, Maryland, won Best in the Amateur Division with his photo Haleakala; and fifteen year old Alex Lenhart of Rocky River, Ohio, won Best in the Youth Division with his photo King of the Hill. Their photos along with the best in category winners are on display at the Ward Museum for three months. Henry’s Haven (In Honor of my Grandfather) by Stephanie Lamonaca, of Salisbury, Maryland, was the People’s Choice award winner for best photo.
Adobe and Wimberley, official sponsors of the Art in Nature Photo Festival, provided the major prizes for each division. The Grand Champion prize package included $500, a one year membership to the Adobe Creative Cloud and a Wimberley Head Version II: full gimbal tripod head. The Best Professional prize package included $300, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and a $100 gift certificate from Wimberley. The Best Amateur prize package included $200, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and a $100 gift certificate from Wimberley. The Youth prize package included $100, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12, $100 gift certificate from Wimberley and $25 gift card. Additionally, ribbons were awarded to first, second and third place winners in all divisions and categories. Honorable mention ribbons were also awarded in the Amateur and Youth divisions.
Professional nature photographers Michael Cable and Corey Hilz, teamed with former National Geographic photographer Robert Madden to serve as judges.
