The Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Maryland Capital Enterprises, Inc. (MCE) is excited to welcome new staff members and announce several position changes due to a grant from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to operate Women’s Business Centers in Salisbury and Baltimore. The Salisbury WBC serves women entrepreneurs in the eight-county Eastern Shore, and the Baltimore WBC serves women entrepreneurs in the Baltimore City, Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties.

At the Women’s Business Center, women entrepreneurs are equipped with the skills and financial tools necessary to create a solid plan for their business to thrive. Both locations provide technical assistance to women entrepreneurs through free one-on-one counseling, classroom and virtual trainings, and mentorship through local women entrepreneurs. Our goal is to empower these women to grow their businesses, create jobs, and generate wealth. The WBC’s activities are designed to produce a substantial positive economic impact in the communities we serve, with successful business start-ups, job creation and retention, and increased company revenues and growth.

Lisa Twilley of Salisbury will serve as the Director of the Women’s Business Center. She started with MCE in 2013 as the Outreach Coordinator and has held various positions within the company such as Administrative Manager of MCE Women’s Business Center, Outreach and Training Manager for MCE and WBC and now has been promoted to the Director of the Women’s Business Center at Maryland Capital Enterprises. Director Lisa Twilley stated, “We are so very thankful for the funding provided by the SBA for the Women’s Business Center. This funding will allow MCE to not only continue our services, but also expand them to provide women with much more needed assistance. This is especially important as we begin to emerge from the COVID-19 Pandemic and into a new economy. The resources provided by the SBA grant will help Maryland’s women entrepreneurs reach their dreams of owning their own small business and we are excited to be able to help them along the way.” She can be reached at ltwilley@marylandcapital.org.
