SALISBURY, MD—When it comes to making sales, students in Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business are winners — some of them literally.
Some 80 students recently vied for top honors during the SU Mid-Atlantic Sales and Marketing Institute’s (MASMI’s) sixth biannual sales championship competition, held virtually for the first time as SU classes and student events remain online to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Communication major Cameron Miller of Timonium, MD, received $1,000 for his first-place finish. Runners-up included marketing major Gordon Parks of Annville, PA, in second place; finance major Dennis Seyfried of Columbia, MD, in third; and marketing major Julianna Renzi of Beltsville, MD, in fourth.
Winners were decided by judges, buyers and observers representing prominent alumni, MASMI sponsors and local businesses.
Sponsors included Choptank Transport, Sunbelt Rentals, APPI Energy, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Gartner, Northwestern Mutual, Orkin, Perdue, Pohanka of Salisbury, Risk Placement Services, Sherwin-Williams, Stanley Black & Decker and UNUM.
Associate MASMI members included Atlantic Tractor, Capital Electric, Cvent, Deeley Insurance Group, Freedom Mortgage, GIS Benefits, Henry Schein, National Conference Services, Paycom, SVN Miller Commercial Real Estate, Tom James and Willscot.
In addition, the competition attracted representatives from other companies interested in learning more about the MASMI sales program, including Apex Systems, the Baltimore Ravens, Breakthru Beverage Group, CED Sterling, Dell Technologies, Misonix, Power Home Remodeling and the University of Delaware.
