The City of Salisbury Parking Enforcement Division has announced that it will officially resume normal parking enforcement in the Downtown area effective beginning Monday, August 3rd.
On March 28th, in the early days of the State of Emergency, Mayor Jacob Day declared that all non-permit municipal parking would be free of charge in order to encourage citizens to support local businesses and restaurants during a very uncertain time for our country and community. Any non-permit parking tickets mistakenly issued during the time period from March 28th to August 3rd will be voided and no action is needed by the recipient of the ticket.
“While parking enforcement can be inconvenient, it is a necessary process for the fair and equitable use of spaces in the downtown area,” shared Tom Stevenson, the City of Salisbury’s Director of Field Operations.
Beginning August 3rd, vehicles parked illegally, in both pay and permit parking spaces will be cited accordingly. Parking enforcement officers will be out one week prior to August 3rd, leaving friendly reminders on illegally parked vehicles. As a reminder, parking will be free for up to two hours in Lot 1, on the corner of South Division Street and Circle Avenue.
“The City continues to encourage citizens and community members to shop and eat locally whenever possible. Many local business owners and employees are still feeling the impacts of COVID-19, and your support is still critical for their success,” shared City Administrator Julia Glanz.
